I heard from someone who was told from a player on the team, that we should be able to break these rules if hyperbole sarcasm and views that nobody actually takes seriously are kind of our thing? hang on let me see if I can find the facebook post2 points

You can find this on Amazon. I bought mine about 5 years ago. GREAT READING.... And BTW....A fantastic GID Member also!2 points

If knowing that information changes your pick....my guess is that you aren't doing very well in the contest anyway. 🤣2 points

The first playoff format, used in 1973, divided the state into four quadrants and three classes. A total of 12 schools — four in each class and one from each quadrant — were selected for the state playoffs. In that scenario, a team could be undefeated but not voted to compete in the playoffs. South Bend St. Joseph, after posting consecutive 10-0 seasons under the points system, actually sued the IHSAA after it didn’t qualify. While the school lost in court, changes were coming. Over the ensuing years, additional teams were added, but some schools continued to be left out. So if your team was voted in, you only had to win 3 games to win State. In 1979 Monrovia lost to HSE in the 1st Rd on thier way to losing to TV in the State Finals.2 points

Nah, a individual as tech savvy as the elder Mr. Wright has to be probably has his own server running a WordPress blog. The trick is finding out the URL.2 points

No disagreement, I just don't think the travel distances are a super easy sell. Maybe they aren't that bad, I haven't sat down and done the math, but at first glance they would be very out of place there. Either way, Coach Barrett and his staff have done a great job over the past few years!1 point

Doubtful. Snider played its worst game against Mishawaka and still won. While I fully acknowledge Mishawaka was the best team Snider played in the tourney, honestly, Snider didn’t have another game that was close. Mishawaka wasn’t going to be able run the ball on that defense, your FB would have been shutdown. I think Mishawaka would have beaten Merrillville, but who knows? Lots of athletes on that team and Mishawaka has always struggled with that. Decatur Central should have been a team you could beat.1 point

Not sure I like the geographic fit, but that would probably make the most sense if they ever tried anything different.1 point

The Sheridan Chatter facebook page is where the full scoop was. I think they've deleted a lot of the posts about it though along with the ones about kids being pulled from classes due to all these threats(statewide, if not nationwide) this week.1 point

And it had major implications for conferences as well. Bremen was the only 1A in the NLC at the time, and the 2A & 3A schools wanted Bremen out of the conference because they were penalized for playing that game. However, if I remember correctly, each school could choose 1 of their 10 games to eliminate from the playoff point calculation. So most of the NLC teams would eliminate the Bremen game even though they would be highly favored to win most years. It truly was a convoluted system!1 point

I am aware enough to know that the School Board was still fact gathering about the whole situation, on Monday. They held an Executive Session on Monday evening, about two hours before the statement was released about him being reinstated. The whole situation has just been wild, as an outsider looking in. I have a very good relationship with the school, AD, and coaches, and I have none of the actual facts as far as what definitively happened. Like I said earlier in the thread, we likely will never know what actually went down.1 point

To suspend a 60 year coach for not aligning would be an extraordinary overreach... Nobody is above the law but I can't see how choosing this particular coach to set an example would be the best idea.1 point

It is more likely that I’ll set foot on the moon someday than Notre Dame even entertaining the thought for a fleeting second.1 point

It really happened. I know Warren Central was involved one. There was one that the "championship" lasted only a few plays. Team A scored in a few plays and kicked the PAT. Team B turned it over on the first play from scrimmage.1 point

There must have been 8 teams per class that qualified under that format. I know Bremen lost to North Judson in the first round of 1A in 1979. Then TV beat Judson in round 2 before winning the state title the third week. So there had to be 8 teams. And wasn't it a point system? Not a vote. I know Bremen went 7-3 in the regular season that year, but qualified over teams that had better records because Bremen beat several schools from 2A & 3A, which gave them more points.1 point

WCGrad beat me to it. Yes. It was all based on a point system. As I understand it some teams knew they couldn't make the playoffs based on their schedule even if they went undefeated. ( I could be wrong about that) For the 83 and 84 seasons they tried the appropriately named "Cluster" System. 1985 was the first year of the all in.1 point

I believe teams had to qualify for the tournament back in the 70’s and only 12 teams could qualify in their division1 point

I bet the 55 recruits were impressed with the Boilermakers. In all honesty they all should be confident they can play at Purdue.1 point

Things that are personal in nature and none of my business, I genuinely don't care that much. HOWEVER - when a figure such as the win coach in all of Indiana High School football and a legend gets the hammer dropped on him by School Administration, I think it reaches beyond just the local community. As a school employee - it also peaks interest as to the dynamics in play. Was it an "over-zealous AD" trying to make his mark...or an old "get off my lawn/can't tell me what to do" moment from Coach? We'll probably never know and your right, none of my business. But I would disagree with it not being newsworthy.1 point

My oldest is a Freshman at IU this year. I much rather enjoy a Fall day with her in scenic Bloomington this year than take in the clown show at Purdue. Offense looked very good in Pasadena tonight. Really intriged by the new hire.1 point
