  1. Does Titan32 know? LOL. Titan32 probably knows what they had for dinner last night.

  2. This isn’t new information. It’s been stated here on the GID only about 1,000 times yet DT fails to mention it as the real CYO advantage. BTW, if there are 8 different North Archdiocese CYO teams in Indianapolis, they likely run 8 different offenses….none of them being Chatard’s. This isn’t Center Grove. Coach Doyle isn’t even allowed to speak to CYO kids or parents individually let alone direct what offenses they run. As some background, let’s also add that Chatard is lucky if they get 30-40% of their own CYO kids since they generally split them with Cathedral, Brebeuf, Lawrence Central, Lawrence North, North Central, and even Guerin. But again, like other posters, I’m not really covering any new ground in saying any of this - yet DT seems oblivious to it.

  3. I think you are correct. I'm a little shocked honestly. $850 from 19 donations in barely 12 hours... Thanks again everyone!

  4. Hopefully this isn’t frowned upon but I thought it would be fun to create point spreads for some of the noteworthy games each week of the season and see what people think. It can seem too easy to pick winners in hs football in Indiana but with a point spread it’s a whole different story. I am attempting to cover all the “big” games I can but it’s certainly easy to miss a few with the large amount to deal with. This was not created to have people guess every single game (if you want to, go for it), but rather to garner discussion for games that perhaps had no other thread to be discussed in. Reply with as little or as much as you’d like. If you feel you know 1 game much better than the others let us know what you think will happen. Keep in mind I am creating these lines myself. If you believe I misjudged it badly please let me know and give your reasoning. I am creating these as I see fit, I have one favorite team who is not even included this week, no favoritism is used. This is being made to create discussion, nothing more nothing less, no hard feelings intended. Please take this lightly. I love this site and cannot wait for games to kickoff tomorrow night. 5. I don't recall ever seeing this much donated in less than 24 hours before. That's awesome. Hopefully that helps show the admins how much they are appreciated for maintaining this Forum. Thank you admins and donors! Keep it up!

  6. Brownsburg has also sort of broken me. No reason they should have looked so bad in the postseason the past two seasons. Hate to say this, but even if they pull it off Friday night, NO ONE will (nor should they) take them seriously until they do it again in November. Probably not fair but still fact.

  7. I'd like to see a state-wide statistic on how many kids that were contact traced out of school actually tested positive for COVID at any time during their quarantine. As part of my own non-scientific research locally....I am coming up with something lose to 0%.

  8. Thanks all. Yes that are also some new features. I haven't even had time to check them out myself. I have everyone up through right now caught up with your booster status.

  10. Well, there really shouldn’t be any … yet. But we’ll have a separate thread each week for questions, observations, and even a few complaints. But keep in mind, you need to give us something a little more specific than “those refs sucked. We had 11 penalties, and they only had 4!” If you’re just bitching, you will be openly ridiculed. Fair warning. The more specific information you can give about the situation, the more likely it is the discussion generated will be informative. And that’s the goal. I’d really like to hear some observations about implementation of the new rule affecting blocking below the waist in the free blocking zone. Also, this year’s points of emphasis: intentional grounding, illegal formations, and ineligible downfield.

  11. I'm more concerned with Westfield now and I hope the team is also. I'm sure Coach Peebles have them looking forward no further than tomorrow night. It'll be nice if both CG and the Irish are undefeated into week 9, but that's a long way off. Oh, and last year is history.

  14. The Evansville Central-Mater Dei should be flipped to Mater Dei as the favorite for tomorrow. But other than that, I like the idea!

  15. I believe so. Again.. I'm just interested to see. Well built kid. I've coached against him in because.. seems like a great kid. I think it will be a good game! I gotta pull for the Bull Dogs though (my wife is their AT)!

  18. I complete agree. Still doesn't change that fact that the way we currently do contract tracing for the unvaccinated is like killing a gnat with a sleg hammer.

  23. Looks like we need a Public School governor as well for all the elite public programs that have successful feeder programs.

  25. The persuasion likely does happen. My perspective is that as long as the kid is out every day and is trying, doing all the work his teammates are, then he deserves my best. If kids like that stick it out for 4 years, who knows what can happen? I have had a LOT of kids over the years that worked themselves into starting roles by their senior year. I also see kids that never became starters, but did become coaches after college, so there is that to consider as well. There is no clearer sign to me that a program had an impact on a kid than to see them give back as coaches.

  26. Yep...I would add to that in a lot of public programs, that ONE kid who has played QB (or any other position, but QB carries the most responsibility) for a few years in youth league and in junior high at times will pick other sports instead of football. So, someone has to be developed who has never played. The likely candidate would be a kid who may have been a back up possibly quit before his freshman year because he was just a back up. As far as the Frankfort Chatard comparison, I would say don't judge so harshly. We are a 4A program and have that as an issue as well. The high number of move ins and just kids trying the game for the first time are factors that a program cannot control.

  34. From a friend - An exchange between me and a host..... Hello. Hi, table for two, please. Sure, and your name. Jessie. Great. And do you and your guest have your vaccination cards? We do. Can you tell us who our server will be? Um, looks like Brad will be your server tonight. Great. Can you show us Brad's vaccination card? Um... And also, can you provide me with proof that Brad is not a carrier of HIV, Hepatitis A or B, or any other communicable diseases? Um... Also, we would prefer not to be served by someone who is on or uses recreational drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, meth, fentanyl, etc, so if you could provide us with Brad's most recent tox screen, that would be great. Um... Let me get the manager for you. That would be great, thanks.

  35. 1 special run could also help jump start a program look at Gibson Southern. Before Coach Hart we had never even won a sectional in football….but that 2012 season we managed to win back to back OT games over Vincennes and Memorial to capture our first sectional title. Coach Hart is an amazing coach don’t get me wrong, but even he credits that first year where the team bought in and came together to the jump start of the program. sometimes all you need is a little momentum. Looking forward to seeing Washington and other teams try to make that next step and maybe bring home some hardware

  38. Hogwash. Maybe they don't put pads on until freshman year where you're from, that explains a lot, but that's not the way public schools do it in Central Indiana. No wonder the region can't compete.

  39. The glorious part of the post-season is you never know who's gonna show up on the gridiron. Great example from around the area would be Bosse back in 2010. All Washington wanted was the chance to play. When you don't have a lot of post-season success in your history, the opportunity to play for a sectional title is paramount for your program. So to answer your question, there were a lot of supporters of the program who indeed thought they had a chance against Sullivan.

  41. And yet you advocate for a statewide rule that has no distinction but public or private. Condolences to the kids at Traders Point. They’ve never even gotten out of sectional. But, regardless, they clearly have too many advantages to compete at 1A. Bump those losers up!

  42. Best of luck to the Alices as well. The entire town felt a gut punch after the contact tracing report; hell, I felt the pain and I live in Louisville, KY. I think both towns would relish the opportunity to play each other in the post-season! Would definitely be deserving of a special trip home on my end. If it's played in Vincennes, I'll have to be sure to go ahead and call up Bobe's Pizza early for the pre-game meal. They got something magical in those ovens on 6th Street I swear to God. Or Main Street. Decisions, decisions...

  43. I was told by a source we were supposed to host Carmel to start the season (to make good on our one-one agreement), but after the thumping we gave them last season at their place they backed out with their tail between their legs and Westfield was happy to play us again but would have to be at their place again! Who knows but sounds logical!

  44. The US war on Afghanistan was not lost yesterday in Kabul. It was lost the moment it shifted from a limited mission to apprehend those who planned the attack on 9/11 to an exercise in regime change and nation-building. Agreed. The generals and other high-ranking military officers lied to their commander-in-chief and to the American people for years about progress in Afghanistan. The same is true for the US intelligence agencies. Unless there is a major purge of those who lied and misled, we can count on these disasters to continue until the last US dollar goes up in smoke. Agree more..... Again - we all wanted this to end, but not like this.
