I give a thumbs up to Warren Central. The Warriors bounced back from their first loss of the season and beat a good Bishop Chatard team 36-25.4 points

Still here. Dragons are very young this year. 4 seniors on defense and 2 on offense. Really should have beat DC, even with a ton of mistakes, it came down to a FG attempt. Brebeuf is a good team that gave our young secondary all kinds of problems. Time to head into conference play and see what we've got.3 points

Looks like the Sectional of Death is well-represented ... even with Chatard visiting 4A.2 points

Not certain why Castle gets "the best defense in the SIAC" - tag at this point?? Certainly they have an excellent run defense but, ultimately, they gave up over 200 yds in the air to MD and 3 TDs to drop the game. MD defense was equally tough against Castle, allowing < 140 total yds total offense. By comparison, Mater Dei defense has given up only 21 pts this season, the same amount Castle D yielded in 2nd half & OT in the loss. I would give the nod to Central's offense over 0 - 2 North offense at this point in the season but that may change as season wears on. Castle D is very good, no doubt, but not yet worthy of "Best Defense in SIAC" tag yet, IMHO.2 points

With how the government funded schools are handling many things today, many parents are taking their tax dollars elsewhere. Good for them.2 points

According to an article that I saw, IMG had played them last year and won 56-6. IMG had intimate-enough knowledge of the program prior to this season.2 points

Thank you and as you like to say, a game played by mostly children. This is all very sad. Thank you and as you like to say, a game played by mostly children. This is all very sad. Thank you and as you like to say, a game played by mostly children. This is all very sad.2 points

If these charter schools don't live up to their customer's expectations then those paying customers (aka parents) will go elsewhere. And then the charter school closes. Wish there was such 'accountability' when it came to government schools...2 points

Yes, those “at risk” kids were just crapped on again. All because of adults who put them in a bad spot.2 points

I would love for Bosse to get some poll love. Even if it were just a few votes…that program deserves it. Over the years they’ve had some great players but haven’t been able to put it all together. Watching players like Mack Jacob, Levron Williams, Carrington Crutcher, and Jalen Pendleton has been really cool. I don’t think most people outside of Evansville realize what talent has walked down the halls at Bosse.1 point

Conference Indiana is just so bizarre now. It’s sad know what it used to be as opposed to what it is now. Maybe one day it can be revived or the current schools can find conferences that fit them… Anyway, Bloomington South will run through this conference this year. Not even close and won’t be tested at all. Columbus North will be 2nd and Bloomington north will come in 3rd. After that, the remaining schools will battle it out for the order. Southport and the Terre Hautes are very very very behind.1 point

Hamilton Heights is ranked 11th in 3A Sagarin ratings right now. I'm gonna ride that wave until at least Friday.1 point

Warren will dominate this game from start to finish. North Central graduated something like 40 seniors and this is a rebuilding year for them. The big test for Warren will be the showdown with Ben Davis in week 5. Can't wait for that game.1 point

It has nothing to do with enrollment or spike in % of students with f/r lunch. For sure can tell you that.1 point

This board used to be absolutely loaded with Penn people. But now, barely a whisper. That’s unfortunate, because I’d really like to hear some thoughts about what has caused the steady decline of that program. Let me be clear. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Coach Yeoman, and the entire program. I worked the final game of my on field officiating career at Penn. And when I think about what they did for me that night, I still get choked up. A 100% class act all the way. Always. They were so good, for so long, with such great tradition and culture. What has happened?1 point

I’m hard pressed to say who is No. 1-3 specifically but I think your Top 3 ARE the top 3. Random thoughts. GIbson Southern’s big win over Columbus North looms larger to me with North’s win over Columbus East. I originally considered West Lafayette’s opening win over Lafayette Jeff significant but now am not so sure after Jeff’s last effort. Brebeuf is solid and their two wins seem strengthened even more in light of Chatard’s competitive game against Warren Central (as well as their dominating win v. New Pal). One other thought regarding the upcoming Culver Academy game v. Brebeuf. They always seem to inexplicably play tough v. Brebeuf. I generally have Brebeuf a +21 favorite in those games and they are seldom more than a 3-10 point spread. 3A could really be interesting…..again.1 point

Saw Mishawaka Marian lose to Mishawaka in week 1 and I don't think that's much of an indictment to be honest. Not sure any 3A team would beat Mishawaka this year. Maybe Brebeuf. Marian couldn't stop Mishawaka's running game at all and really couldn't run that well either. They did have some success in the air early. Losing to Culver Academy in week 2 is a maybe a little more troublesome. I guess we'll see how that loss stacks up when Culver Academy plays Brebeuf on September 17. My top 5: 1. Brebeuf 2. West Lafayette 3. Gibson Southern 4. Mishawaka Marian 5. Tri-West1 point

Homestead has earned and should be number one until Dwenger beats them. The SAC really needs to figure it out in regards to scheduling outside of conference. I'm sure there are numerous programs more than willing to add an SAC team to the schedule.1 point

The red flags were there years prior and Warren Central still played them. I don't get it. As was stated in one of the articles, and was mentioned when Warren played them, they have guys playing for them that ran out of HS eligibility.1 point

No..I am not really catching on. My comment was tongue and cheek. Nothing has changed from my past comments...it may very well be a variable in the equation for success. You and I disagree about the size of that variable. I am not sure why we overreact at the beginning of the year. First, most teams don't play their best football at the beginning of the year. Secondly, talent is absolutely cyclical, and sometimes the young ones need to develop. New Pal can absolutely more than compete in 5A....their history has shown it. Just a few years ago, they knocked off 6A CG twice in back to back seasons. The second time NP beat the Trojans, the CG team was being criticized for being down.....the young Trojans developed, played their best football at the end of the season, and went all the way to the 6A final and dang well could have won it. So why we try and draw conclusions based upon such a small volume of work early in the season leaves me scratching my head.1 point

What a nice night of football at Logansport. Two schools that had never played one another before, but got together due to their scheduled opponents not being able to play due to Covid protocol. The AD's, Roman Smith and Brian Strong, as well as the coaches, Nate Andrews and Mike Johnson, did what was best for their players and got this game scheduled in just a coupler of hours on Thursday afternoon. The game was not pretty by any coaches standards with way to many time the ball being on the ground. But in the end the game was played and the players got to have their "Friday Night Lights. Thanks to these AD's and their staff as well as the coaches and their staff.1 point

Agreed! I am sure the coaching staffs would have preferred having some time to game plan better, but for the kids' sake, FANTASTIC job by all to get the game scheduled and played. The student-athletes only have so many opportunities to play the game, and this was truly awesome that they were able to get this done.1 point

Online Charter.......no oversight whatsoever; no accountability for a thing they do; yet setting up a school like this is possible in so many states; including Indiana. There was actually an attempt recently in this part of the State. State legislators there MIGHT step up and do something, but they will not want to as it would open the door for greater accountability in other charters and online schools.1 point

I'm just shocked that team ended up on ESPN. It's not like they clearly didn't know if the announcers were saying it in the game.1 point

Time for contraction.🤣 Seriously though, what a run for Coach Ralph and the Dragons.1 point

Not sure that was necessary. As far as this, I read the article yesterday. What an embarrassment by ESPN! All the great high school football, and they broadcast that. As an aside, if an Indiana school were to play on a Sunday, it would need a waiver from the IHSAA, correct?1 point

Forget ESPN not doing their homework, how about this team playing two games 48 hours apart from each other?1 point

They need to send this information out to all officials in an email if they want it penalized. Otherwise we are telling the the AD & coach "well on the forum they said to penalize this action". That does not look good.1 point

actually it's year 1 of the 1 year cycle. Because enrollment was not taken into affect this past year, the sectionals will be reset after this year.1 point

There aren't any regrets out of the Lincoln program for joining the conference...just to be clear. This time last season, we were talking about how Lincoln let one slip away against Reitz after dominating the first 3 quarters. And that following week we felt we could've toppled MD had a couple plays gone our way. While the 2020 team only ended up with 3 conference wins, it could've easily been 4 or 5. And that team, although experienced, was not overly talented. What you're seeing after two weeks from this year's team was considered a possibility with all the sophomores forced into action..especially up front. And it's gonna get worse before it gets better, but we're excited that these young guys are getting the exposure.1 point

This JUST came up on our game this past Friday night (Talcum/Baby Powder). I spoke to the AD at halftime about the LEGAL ramifications that the school could expose themselves to (on the recommendation of an evaluator who was at our game). An announcement was made to refrain from this sort of celebration. But IMO, I think this is ultimately an IHSAA situation that THEY need to address! We have 5 officials on the field whose primary focus in the field itself...not the student sections of the host institution. The IHSAA needs to step in! Not officials....1 point

Yeah I think it’s time for coach ralph to move on. A 96-8 coaching record won’t cut it at New Pal. I mean come on…if I can have a better coaching record than you on super tecmo bowl than how good are u really?! I bet Belichek will leave the patriots soon or maybe bill cowher might come out of retirement. New Pal has some good options to get them back in 5A.1 point

I don’t get it. We haven’t won our conference since 2003 I think. We’ve been second about a dozen times but really haven’t given East very many good games at all. So, it doesn’t make any sense to schedule powerhouse programs. Why not schedule games that your players, parents, and even fans, can enjoy being a part of?1 point
