  1. If you have a news story or link to an actual story, like in the case of Hammond Morton, it's ok to post. But to just post "I heard....." regardless of what the topic is......is not acceptable on this site.

  3. I appreciate your candor sir!!! Here is what I will say about Luers, always been a fan of them and root for them come playoff time. I think this is one of their least talented teams in awhile and, quite frankly, they don’t have the players in quality and quantity to deal with those 5A and 6A teams this year. That doesn’t mean they can’t make a run come playoff time

  4. I think at one time it was a benefit for both teams but Liptons will probably never be 1A again and should look for some 2-4 A teams to prepare them for Madder Days

  5. I'm 100% with you bro! (Michigan whooping Ohio State) What I wouldn't give to see that. Interesting chat regarding the SA ranking. Seems AC has had their number as of late, but pretty much anyone on AC's schedule could say that. FWIW from an outsider, I think SA is def worth being ranked in pre-season, maybe not top 3. Somewhere in 5-10, absolutely. Be interesting to see how it plays out.

  6. The Bluejays have a solid team this year. As their young talent continues to grow they should be better than last year's team. However, they are fully aware that Triton and Pioneer are in their sectional. Triton is very talented and North Judson hasn't beaten Pioneer since 2008!!! Plus, everyone knows that Adams Central is the true lock to make it back to state!!!😀 I think it was sarcasm!

  7. Hats off to the Benton Central head coach and his staff. First 2-0 start since 2011. Hope to see the bison win a few conference games this year. Only gonna make the conference stronger.

  9. Also.. great time at CT this evening. Beautiful field and stadium. Had music, good time. Hour weather delay sucked. 🤣

  10. Sectional 2 is easily the most balanced and unpredictable sectional in the state. It's the only sectional in the state where any team can beat any of the other teams in it.

  12. I mean at this very moment in the season I think you're close. Don't know if I'd have VL jump clear to 4..more like 5-6. Memorial is 0-2 so probably 8 is where I'd stick them. And you can't really put Jasper ahead of Harrison either at this point in time...so seems like a fair ranking.

  13. In light of @Irishman pinned post regarding rumors, I think I’d be well-advised to stop passing these tidbits about who is/isn’t supposedly playing, and where, along. I appreciate the discussions on the board and we all need to respect the rules. This isn’t college or pros where the coaches regularly release information about a player’s status.

  14. Thanks, didn’t know if they did away games

  15. I doubt that will go on too long. This is just speculation on my part. But I think Hurley would prefer to stick with Ellspermann. It’s just hard to defend that with 0 TDs in 8 quarters of play. So he’s introducing some in-game competition. I’ve been critical of Ellspermann in the passing game. But I don’t think it’s fair to put so much on him. His best receiver hasn’t played. And the O-Line went from 3 new players to 4 after halftime of the Jasper game, and it showed. He had no time to pass on most dropbacks against North. A number of dropped passes, etc.

  16. Penn back to being Penn is a big IF. Based on recent performances (Indy vs the field last 4 years), I've got Cathedral by 2-3 touchdowns.

  17. So you're on the record for saying that Luers might only drop one more game this year in the SAC?

  18. Unless those kids moved, how did they enroll in Chatard? I was the under the assumption Ritter, Chatard, Scecina, and Roncalli could only pull from their assigned deanery.

  19. I hope you're right about the kicking game. Ben Gomez spoiled the Irish faithful last year with his talents. It's an important part of any team, and its importance is sometimes overlooked by fans.

  20. Wouldn't be shocked to see them back in 5A after the next 2 year cycle.

  21. Well yes they got waxed. One may argue the Liptons are just a good 2A team. Really? For 1A the Vermillions. are a very good team and have a very good coach. I question why the Liptons play any WRC teams. Please don't discount NV and use the good Liptons as the reason. Just a thought

  22. It's happening everywhere, not just Indiana, and it's mimicking the college transfer portal. Until the IHSAA puts their foot down restricting varsity eligibility, it's going to continue to happen. And it's pretty naïve to not think tampering is going on as well.

  23. Who is the most likely to make it out of sectional 43? Carroll Flora??? yes

  24. Didn't see a thread for 6A and the season currently, but thought it was interesting to see Sectional 2 with the top 3 scoring defenses in 6A (and all 4 teams in Top 10) so far through Week 2. I do not necessarily expect it to end up that way when it's all said and done, but wanted to give a shoutout to those team's defensive units. 6A 1. Elkhart 3.50 2. Penn 6.00 3. Warsaw 7.00 4. Lake Central 8.00 5. Fishers 8.50 6. Crown Point 9.00 7. Hamilton Southeastern 10.50 7. Homestead 10.50 9. Carroll (FW) 12.00 9. Franklin Central 12.00

  28. You legitimately think Memorial is the 9th best team in the SIAC?

  29. This will probably be the last 2 years AC & SA will be in 1A together in awhile. SA is definitely deserving of being ranked, but probably not quite at 3 but I'd say no lower than 6th. I'm ready for them to be in separate classes and hope they stay so for a long time. I'll have family playing for South Adams in 5 years or so and continue to help AC in youth in a much more limited role than previous due to my stepchildren being at Crestview in Ohio. I'd love to see all 3 Adams County schools in separate classes and hopefully family or friends/neighbors playing at all 3 and they all be highly successful. I dream of an all Adams County Black Friday in Indianapolis (if IHSAA ever follows through with pairing teams in same area on same championship day). Then traveling to a local Ohio turf field for a Saturday state semifinal that Saturday after Michigan whoops Ohio State!

  31. Goshen absolutely bossed NP in the first half last week. Better team on both sides of the ball. In the second half NP made good adjustments and started dictating things on offense, but Goshen still was able to move the ball themselves, and even after their catastrophic start to the second half, they had the ball in the red zone with a chance to tie it up. Things will come around I think.

  33. The running clock can not start prior to the beginning of the second half. I refer to IHSAA Rules and Procedures for clarification: 1. Beginning with the second half of any high school football game, when the point differential between teams is at or reaches 35 points, the game clock shall convert to a running clock. A running clock is defined as a clock that does not stop during play with the exception of timeouts, scores and/or injuries. 2. Once the running clock is implemented, the clock may not revert back to standard timing protocols regardless of the score of the contest. 3. The 40 second play clock shall remain in effect throughout the contest. 4. Coaches do not have the ability to override the implementation ofthe Mercy Rule during a contest. The Referee shall notify the head coach of each school when the Mercy Rule goes into effect. The home team is responsible for notifying timing personnel of the running clock. as always, the game is better from_the_sidelines007

  34. We start conference match ups this week! Here are my week 3 predictions: Concord V. NorthWood: Through two games, NorthWood doesnt seem to come out of the gates strong. They havent shown themselves until toward half time. East Noble showed what I thought would be their biggest weakness this year...run defense. Northwood seemed to struggle with defending the good ol counter plays. With that said, I dont think Concord will match up too well with NorthWood this year. This is not the typical Concord team. I feel that NorthWood may have its way with them this week. Northwood by 28. Goshen V. Wawasee: Come on Goshen...your killing me. They have shown that they can play football...just not 4 quarters. I still have hope that they are turning that program around. Wawasee on the other hand...its a struggle bus down in Syracuse. I see Goshen winning this game with little to no trouble. Goshen by 21. Northridge V. Mishawaka: Probably going to be the best NLC game this week. Northridge is my biggest suprise thus far into the season. I really assumed they would be way down this year. It always hard to win in Mishawaka and i think Northrdige will come up short on Friday. I think it will be close...until the 2nd hafl. Mishawaka will grind out a win and keep Northridge's offense of the field. On a side note...Mishawaka has an awsome atmoshere and a beatiful surrounding (tucked into a neighborhood...beautiful school back drop...consession stands / restrooms on the visitors side...awsome scoreboard) but why is the actual football field in such bad shape. The school spent the money on the scoarboard, the entrance and the track...but spent 0 on the field. Why is that? Anyway...I will take Mishawaka by 14. Plymouth V. Warsaw: Warsaw's hasnt missed a beat with having QB2 at the helm. Plymouth...Plymouth...i dont know what to say about them. I feel for those kids that stick with it...and hopfully things will change for them. I dont think Warsaw will be playing startes beyond the 3rd quarter. Warsaw by 35.

  36. Thoughts after week 2: Really like the way North Side responded after losing a close one to Snider. Nobody in the SAC or 5A playoffs want to see the offense North Side ran in the 2nd half. A steady dose of 6' 190 Jontae Lambert running the ball and the Legends doing everything they can to get the ball into the hands of 4 star WR Brauntae Johnson. Those 2 playing like that will keep them in any game. Is Decatur Central a pretender or New Pal that dang good? Kyle Ralph is the man and I feel for any 4A coach having to prepare for that team in the playoffs; however, 49-0 is still 49-0. I find it hard to believe the other 5A contenders would be embarrassed like that. There are cracks in Merrillville's armor. 17-7 over Hobart with player issues isn't the sign of a Champion. Mishawaka has absolutely crushed Marian and St. Joseph. The Cavemen are looking like the clear favorite in Sectional 11. Are they a legitimate threat to the survivor of Sectional 12? Anderson is will be the sacrificial lamb the 3 Fort Wayne schools hope to draw in Rd 1 of Sectional 12. Right now, I would wager the winner of Sectional 12 will represent the North in Lucas Oil Scorewise, Harrison and Plainfield appeared to be a close game. I would give Decatur the edge in Sectional 13 if they can easily dispatch of the Quakers. Again, maybe Decatur is still the favorite to represent the South, but I have hard time looking past 49-0. Originally, I would consider the winner of Sectional 13 to be the favorite over Sectional 14, but Franklin and Whiteland have impressed in weeks 1 and 2. The Mid-State is shaping up to have another great year of competition. I love how deep that conference is. The fall of Columbus East post Bob Gaddis continues in Sectional 15. I was hoping to see the Olympians bounce back this year and there is still plenty of time for that to happen. Right now it appears the favorite in that Sectional is either Bloomington North or South. Sectional 16 is looking like it will come down to a rematch between Castle and North unless the Highlanders completely turn things around after blowout losses to 2 respectable Louisville programs.

  37. Not sure AC is getting touched this year through sectional. Unfortunate, because I think Southwood has a good group, regardless of the first two games.

  39. I mean, you could make the case that the spread in any potential contest between those top 7 teams would be single digits. All games thus far between teams in that tier have been so.

  40. Joey Chestnut ate pounds of popcorn on Victory Field halfway to the mound prior to the game... the staff vacuumed off the popcorn then hosed the natural turf prior to first pitch. I just assumed the field turf could be cleaned.

  43. After the converted fake punt where the Triton player had the ball ripped away from him, it seemed as though Triton just gave in! Laville poured it on with an onside kick conversion and left 1st string defense in vs Tritons jv to force a fumble and score the last touchdown. This score of 56-14 may appear a huge gap between talent, but anyone who watched the game would say otherwise! Congratulations Laville. You’ve got a great team! I hope the Triton boys pick themselves up and move on to a great season they are capable of.

  49. One more thing for now.....the gold standard that will likely never be touched. How fast is Secretariat's derby time of 1:59.4, which is still the record 49 years later? Secretariat would have beaten today's winner Rich Strike by 13 lengths

  50. The downfall at Ritter is self-inflicted. The previous head coach thought Ritter was winning championships because of him and not the players. The principal now President enabled him for years. The school took for granted that families would continue to send their kids to Ritter. I could go and on. Ritter had a chance once Coach Hunt resigned to hire a former player and coach who might of been able to turn it around. It still would of been a challenge. The president of Ritter chose otherwise. I feel for Coach Purcell as none of this is his doing. The Ritter administration has gotten just what it wanted. Ritter will not have a football team in the near future.
