  1. Also something to think about, if you don't like the state of your program or how it's being ran, get involved and volunteer your time to be a part of the solution as opposed to part of the problem. I don't know anything about this program but I guarantee these coaches spend a lot of time and effort away from their own families to try and instill, not only football lessons but , more importantly, life lessons into these young men. Everyone who is not in the locker room and on the practice field wants to be critical of what's going on and they don't take the time to do anything about it, they just sit behind a computer screen and complain about how other people are doing things. I'v been coaching a long time and have been a part of some pretty successful teams and I have also been a part of some not-so-successful teams, if you are only looking at the almighty win. But, I will guarantee you one thing, these young men were better people because of it, and that I can live with. So, you must first determine what success means, I truly believe learning respect, accountability, teamwork, discipline, and selflessness is far more important than any win you can put on a scoreboard. Don't be an armchair quarterback, be a part of the solution or continue to be part of the problem, the choice is yours.

  3. I've seen Westfield play..if they meet in regionals it will be tough sledding..since the onset of 6a, the north semi state participant has not been from the area..programs thought they could beat carmel too..until they played carmel.. I will start believing once again after it actually happens..

  4. Sorry, I live south of 40 and can’t read! 700 tickets. Was 1st come 1st served last week.

  5. I heard if they had a better video guy, they'd be the favorite in 3A! 🤷‍♂️

  6. I meant...we saw the way they ran a few plays differently and how much more smoothly it flowed through them...we took some advice from their coaches and by watching film...it has helped us. Just saying...all opinion here. It as nothing to do with what Mater Dei is and runs...

  9. Did you play? If so, think back to your last game. When it finished, what would you have done to get just one more week of practice with those guys, one more week of locker room shenanigans, one more game? It’s a shame you can’t see how important even this abbreviated season is to those kids.

  10. This is going to be a really good one. Can someone verify if this game will be streamed, and if so, by which company?

  11. How has Center Grove handled tickets? Down here in EVV it's been pretty limited attendance all year at 250 per side.

  12. They just forget how President Obama was treated...wait.. they don't forget. DE and Sword just didn't pay attention. Seems they don't even pay attention now.

  13. That's funny. I remember last season one of the Lewellen twins decided not to cut up field where he would have just out ran everyone.. instead ran right at a defender and just trucked him over and still went for 40+ yard td. Neither one of them are afraid of contact.

  14. The "case study" for this is Wisconsin and Illinois. Badger QB tested positive over the weekend after he played in their opening game Friday vs. Illinois. His backup (teammate) has also tested positive since then. So far, no Illini players have. My guess is that there will be zero connected positives to him on Illinois, but a few more teammates on Wisconsin will. This would confirm my suspicion all along that your teammates in the locker room are more likely to transmit the virus to you than an opponent in the act of playing the game. Which is exactly the same way the flu spreads during the season.

  15. But the schools in the sectional do split the gate from all of the games (minus expenses), so it hurts their bottom line. Moreso, a team isn't going to want to give up its homefield advantage even if it means more people in the stands. The health departments might frown on that, too.

  16. 2008, 2009, and 2017 in 3 straight games against Carmel snider lost those 3 by a COMBINED 7 points. They ended up losing in 2018 by 14 to Carmel. A good snider team can compete with Indy teams and has before. Homestead and Carroll have rarely fared well against them. I know Westfield is good but I don’t think they are like a Greyhound team that can physically grind you throughout the whole game with massive lines and depth and I don’t think some people on here understand that. The winner of this 6A sectional can and should compete against Westfield and make a game of it, possibly win. As you mentioned above Homestead has improved since joining the SAC which makes perfect sense. I think they have the best chance against Westfield out of these teams, probably Snider next year. Carroll doesn’t have the type of game right now IMO to contend with the teams down there. Look no further than giving up 70 to Homestead.

  20. Snider takes Carmel to the wire every single time. They were on the verge of blowing them out of the water in 18' before self-destructing. Penn took care of business the following week. Homestead outplayed Carmel for a half last year without their best player. Sure, good teams figure it out in the end and that's what Carmel did. My point is this: Sectional 4 is FAR from invincible. The favorite? Yes. Is Westfield a darn good football team? Yes. But Homestead has amped up their level of play since joining the SAC, so don't be surprised if they give the Shamrocks a run...............if they get out of Sectional 3.

  22. In actuality, they finished 2nd in the conference against 1A teams ... SV and Seeger are both 2A schools ... and they only dropped their one game this season by a touchdown against SV. Beating South Putnam for the sectional would be the more impressive item in this case.

  23. I can tell you from an UP CLOSE, personal point of view, the Lewellen's never shied away from contact and in every case, THEY initiated it. I have ZERO ties to the young men or Pioneer HS.

  24. Bingo. The movers and shakers in the CP community probably just want to move on to basketball season.

  25. I would love to use this case as a case study. If the player that tested positive played a significant amount of time Friday, I would love for each of the other players from both teams to get tested on Wednesday (Day 5) and the following Monday (Day 10). If absolutely no players follow up with additional positives, maybe we are overreacting. If there are some positives within this situation, that could be meaningful statistics as well. Either way, it stinks for Clinton Prairie but how about someone use this as a positive way to learn more about the virus!

  28. Sorry, but I'm not drinking the Koolaid. Pioneer by at least 25. LaVille might get one, maybe two scores. The Panthers will score on at least 75% of their possessions. (8-9 possessions each) Do the math.

  30. If Ft. Wayne schools are serious about competing on a State level in one of the countries toughest divisions (6A), they need to split up the SAC. What they need to add is competition from Indy. Avon vs. Carroll, Dwenger vs. Chatard, Luers vs. LCC, Homestead vs. Brownsburg, Concordia vs. Guerin Catholic, etc. are exciting matchups. It would give teams in the NE8 an opportunity to play a SAC team as well. It would be a great experience for the kids of both teams to travel to each others cities. Ft. Wayne coaches can sell it to their kids that this is what going to State will be like. This benefits the smaller schools and the bigger schools. A win-win scenario and no brainer, in my opinion.

  33. NFHS uses the term popup kick as a kick that is driven into the ground and bounces up. For years the term was used to describe a “sky” kick that never touches the ground as described in the OP. I’m not sure how the rules makers decided what to call it but I know the term can be confusing for many. When I hear pop up kick I think of the one up in air not the one described in the rule book. I see I’m not alone

  34. I will be curious to see which Laville offense comes out. The ground and pound they were able to employ against Cass was drastically different than what they ran against Knox a few weeks ago where they could have passed on every play if they wanted to. It will be a great game and atmosphere and both teams will be ready to play come kickoff. The real question is will Laville's concession stands be doing anything different for Friday night. I will say, I was highly disappointed at North Judson a couple weeks ago when I found out they weren't doing their steak sandwiches at the game a couple weeks ago.

  37. To be honest... I don't think I've ever predicted a score of any game. I think it's a given that Linton and Mater Dei are going to be favorites in both games. I think it helps Linton to be playing at home, and certainly helps North Knox playing at home too. Mater Dei is the perennial favorite in Sect 40. The Warriors are playing their best football of the year right now, but MD has faced opponents week in and out...and more pointedly beaten or been in games with then all. If NK can get that ground game to work and grind it out, I give them a shot... but if MD gets up a couple scores and NK has to play catch-up I think it will be the Wildcats. For Linton, they also are playing very well. North Posey is too... but the competition in these last couple weeks is vastly different. Linton can't afford to slack or look ahead... that would be my biggest fear this week. I don't think Mater Dei should look ahead either.

  39. Smaller school gives more opportunity for kids that wouldn't play otherwise. Heritage Hills has around 600 students. You will have a dozen or so on a basketball team. Carmel has almost 5000 students. You still have a dozen or so on the team (I would assume). There are surely kids that would be excellent ball players that would be playing if they weren't at the mega school. I live in the country, but if I moved to a city, say Indy for example, I would be far more inclined to Westfield or Danville than Carmel or Fishers. Gives your "normal" kid the opportunity to play. I'm a small town guy, that is my bias....I dunno.

  40. I've said this year and for the past several years that MD plays one of the tougher schedules in all of 2A. It is mostly against 3, 4, and 5A schools No matter what their record is, they are ALWAYS tournament ready. You can't teach competition.

  41. Don't forget. The game has been moved to Saturday to make room for the LCC girls soccer team in the state finals. I would hate for the Ballhawk to be the only one there Friday night.

  42. Columbus East at Franklin Central Seymour at Whiteland Jeffersonville at Floyd Central I don’t think the East at Franklin Central game is going to be as easy a win for East as some might think. That 1-8 record is misleading because they play in the second best conference in the state. For instance, Noblesville (one of Franklin Central’s fellow HCC members) was 1-8 heading into sectionals last year and took a ranked and undefeated Homestead team to overtime before losing. Throw in the fact East will be without McDonald and Franklin Central could give us as much trouble as Noblesville gave Homestead. Still picking East but I’m definitely leery.

  44. 'This Building Has Caused More Problems Than It Solved' https://reason.com/2020/10/25/this-building-has-caused-more-problems-than-it-solved/#comments An interesting interview. And Ms. DeVos is correct, the federal department of education should have never been created. It is a fundamentally unconstitutional edifice.

  46. Top of the NIC is better than the top of the NLC; and that was proven on the field. NPs 5 wins were against decent competition; nothing notable. I have to agree with you on the rest of your statements. NP was in the weakest sectional they've probably ever been in and completely shit the bed. They were just plain soft. I really have to question some of the coaching going into this game/sectional. Why in the world would you start a freshman quarterback for the first time??? If it's week 4 or 5 I get, but first round of the sectionals when you are the favorites and you've already beaten 3 teams in that sectional???? come on.

  47. If you're going to be critical of your own school, prepare for some backlash. At the end of the day, this game is about the students and giving them the chance to grow and learn through this great game that we call football. Win, lose, draw, or even in a blowout, there are lessons to be learned. Taking that chance away from the students, at the end of the day, is selfish. At the end of the day, it's just a game. It can be hard to say that to a bunch of diehards, but it's the simple truth.

  48. I guess the question is.... do you think being critical of teenagers and their coaches on a forum is your responsibility ? Are you really preparing them for life? Isn’t that their family and coaches role?
