I was just talking to the Dwenger coach the other day. I suggested upgrading the roster. He said he would think about it if they move to 6A.

Sometimes I wonder why I even open these. Oh well. Got me again.

Lots of good eats in the Carmel/Westfield area but I will defer to others who live in the area to recommend the best. Honestly, it might well be worth the trip just to see Westfield’s new stadium. Chatard scrimmaged Westfield there a year or so back.....brand new and beautiful facilities. As nice as it gets in Central Indiana - which probably means Carmel (Carmel being Carmel) is going to build a domed stadium before too long.

They go from having their season cancelled to winning the schools first ever Sectional Title in football. Coach Good Is building a solid program at the corner of Ridge and Calhoun.

The fact that there are no PPs in 6A further demonstrates that the current system is working. If PPs were truly "at the very top of the heap in all classes" as you put it, there would be PPs in 6A. The fact that there are not should tell us all we need to know. The current system keeps PPs from being able to dominate their class because they are moved up to a level where they simply can't have that level of success. Case closed.

so Guerin and Brebuef should be in 5A but not Chatard? How does that make any sense? The success factor works just fine. Good teams will bump up, others won't. Park Tudor and Bishop Noll playing in the 4A state tournament just because Chatard and Cathedral punch above their weight may be your worst take yet. There's three schools on that list who have dominated their enrollment class the last decade or so; Cathedral, Chatard, and LCC with LCC coming back down to Earth. Take out Chatard and Cathedral, and every one of those P/P's are cyclical just like any other public school.

Jeffersonville at Castle Heck of a run Jeff is on right now. Seems like the humiliating 41-14 loss to Madison woke them up as they’ve now won four straight games. It’s their longest winning streak since 2014 when they began that season 7-0. The win at Floyd Central ten days ago snapped an eight game losing streak to the Highlanders dating back to 2014. The sectional title win three days ago was the first for Jeff since 2007 and their fifth sectional title overall. Now, Jeff attempts to win its first regional title ever when they play at Castle this Friday. It’s their first meeting since 2012 when Jeff lost there 50-29 in the sectional championship. Jeff has lost three straight to them. 2007 was their last win against the Knights. Hopefully the Red Devils have another upset in them.

Regional Week Jeffersonville at Castle It's hard to believe Jeff is the last HHC team standing after the challenging season that they had. But props to them for putting it together when it mattered most. It will be a tough out against a well coached Castle program, but I've said that the last two weeks. I will keep picking against them in hoping it helps them continue to win!

Per IHSAA by-laws - the visiting team can request "day of game" - home team can then set the "time of day" the game will be played. If Saturday is requested, it's more than likely understood that travel is an issue. Last year, MD requested a Saturday game, having to go more than 3+ hours on a bus - Triton then sets the game time at 11 am, or noon, can't remember. Pretty busch league on their part Takes a lot for me to root for our ol parochial rivals in the South, but just this one time, I'd like to see them lay the hammer down for last year.

Yeah sort of where I was going with that. I think there have been years recently where 3A was probably stronger than 4A top to bottom. I'm no expert on the rules either, but I believe if Chatard wins their regional game this Friday, they are going up to 4A for '21-22 seasons regardless of whether they win state again. I obviously want them to win every game, but I have been really hoping they make it far enough to make the jump to 4A. I tend to agree with DT here, at least in Chatard's case, that I'd like to see them up a class. We can argue all day about who belongs in which class, but I think there's nothing more impressive than teams like Memorial, New Pal, Columbus East, and Cathedral that have bumped up a class and still been very successful.

Valparaiso High School is the worst place for the teams season to come to an end, especially for the seniors. Two Duneland conference connections in tonight's Monday Night Football game Patriots @ Jets. -ESPN Monday Night football officiating analyst John Parry graduated from the former Michigan City Rogers High School in 1983. -New York Jets kicker Sam Ficken graduated from Valparaiso High School in 2011. Don't anybody ever say that dreams are impossible.

I'm not sure why what we are currently using doesn't work. If a team is successful and earns enough points they "bump up". If they continue to be successful they continue to move up the ladder. Maybe we change the points system or what it takes to "bump up", but just moving all private schools up based on twice their enrollment regardless of success seems ignorant. There is no reason a school of any size should be penalized and placed in a class well above their enrollment when they might have an absolutely horrible athletic program. Indiana classed all sports many years ago to give more kids a chance to be successful. Now it appears some don't feel the right people are benefitting from classification.

There are a few things we oughta get straightened out right at the start to avoid any grief later on:

Very disciplined, very well coached. Spread the ball on offense. Run it well, and throw it well. Defensively they fly to the ball. DBs can cover well. LBs pursue and tackle well. Both the O line and D line are not gonna out size anyone, but the compete their butts off and do the jobs. Best words I can describe this team with BLUE COLLAR.

Why 2.0? I'm curious if you can rationally lay out an argument why 2x instead of 1.25, 1.33, 1.5, 1.67, etc. Heck, why stop at 2x? Let's go to 2.5, 3.0, or how about Pi? Let's implement a multiplier of 3.14159265... we can even put you in charge of the math.

I agree. Looked at one way the winner of Sectional 30 this year is the State Champ in waiting. And they most likely will be waiting a long time. No current Sectional 30 team has ever played in a state championship football game. I don't think that is going to change anytime soon so, yes they are waiting.

It was 7-0 at half, and Lawrenceburg's QB was injured on the last play of the first half. That could have made for a tighter score in the second as well. I'm a big fan of SEI local sports and will be watching the stream. Should be a good one.

I thought the story was the steady decline of the SAC over the past 15-20 years? Are you expanding the steady decline to Northeast Indiana? Don't move the goal posts.

I absolutely do. When all you need is 3 1/2 yards every play... I don't care who you are, it's tough to beat. As well, with Bart Ball, time of possession is the ultimate equalizer IMO. The other team can't score if you have the ball. And if the other team only has 4-5 opportunities to score each game, that will keep every game close and thus winnable. I can't image Warsaw ever scheduling a team from the MIC or HCC due to travel. The Huntington North game was added at a time when they were 5A and I know a desire to move away from beating up on Columbia City almost every year (taking nothing away from the CC program here). Granted, not entirely sure HN is really an upgrade, but an area 5A team that has potential IMO. However, I know there are rumors/rumblings of potentially adding another DAC team to the schedule or newly 6A powerhouse Elkhart as well. I think if the Tigers can somehow add Crown Point/Chesterton/Merrillville/Valparaiso or Elkhart to the schedule in addition to keeping Michigan City, those would all be improvements to the schedule. However, devils advocate here, it is nice to play a school like Columbia City or Huntington North week 1 in the season for new players to get used to the system and whatnot. As difficult as it is for teams to prepare for Bart Ball, I believe it takes a few weeks for the Tigers to work the kinks out themselves on that side of the ball, as indicated in all three years weeks 1 and 2 under Coach Curtis.

The SAC has 4 sectional champions this year, the most since 2002 when they had.....4.

Which is a shame, give him a solid OC and he would still be a great NFL HC, IMO. I agree with you that the Bears don't have the talent to run Reed's offense. Plus, in reality, if Bieniemy's name is finally called, he probably has a lot more appealing options than Chicago. A bigger question is will Pace be around to make the hire or draft/sign a QB. And, given we have a playoff caliber defense, should we prefer the Bears try signing/trading for a QB as opposed to drafting one in the 1st round that may need years to develop?

Its relevant and its mentioned because its unusual (almost unheard of) that five starters from one school end up at another school. Not five players. Five starters. All future college players at some level. Merrillville has a once-in-a generation team. But lets be clear. It is not a knock or a criticism of Merrillville to say they got five transfers. Two of the boys transferred last summer and the other three moved after the Covid-19 virus shut down Morton's program. It just happened. One of the 'Morton transfers' is Jo Jo Johnson, who, its my understanding, was originally at Merrillville as a freshman. When he was at Morton, he was a Merrillville transfer. Who cares of we mention it? Its part of the story. Andrean's QB is a transfer from Illinois. Valparaiso got an all-state transfer at QB from Jefferson and he is always referred to as Jefferson transfer Max Grimes. . Elkhart is a consolidation of two entire varsity teams. In many senses, half their team is 'transfers'. It is what it is. This is a very, very, very unusual year.

Before we move onto Regional- can we just recognize that a 2A school (by success factor and enrollment) manufactured this tough-as-nails Sectional?? I mean- I don’t believe many people gave this team much attention/chance when “the big dog” decided to hang it up in terms of football- but here they are.

Warsaw played a gr8 game. It's always fun to watch that type of offense..i can see how state titles have been won with it n think it still works today..most offenses resemble each other now a days..regional matchup will have two mirror images..
