After four weeks, I think we have an adequate sample size... 1. Memorial (4-0) 2. Gibson Southern (3-1) 3. Central (3-1) 4. Heritage Hills (4-0) 5. Mater Dei (3-1) 6. Southridge (4-0) 7. Castle (3-1) 8. North (2-2) 9. Linton (3-1) 10. Jasper (1-3) HM: North Knox (3-1), Mount Vernon (2-2), North Daviess (4-0), Reitz (1-3) This was not easy. Spots 1-3 could be interchangable. As could spots 4-7. Outside of the top six or so teams, the big schools are making it hard to assess where everyone stands. Would North Knox really hang in a game with Jasper or Reitz? I put my neck out there. Your turn... Instead of a new thread each week, let's just keep updating this as the season progresses. Some interesting matchups forthcoming.3 points

Considering they are one of the smallest schools in 4A and they won the 5A title... yes...3 points

I was down to Booneville the last time the Miners played the Pioneers. It was 1945. Undefeated Linton, 9 - 0 - 1 defeated the Pioneers 21 - 6, one of two Booneville losses that year. The Miners were Southern Indiana Athletic Conference champions in 1945. Linton's only blemish was a 6 - 6 tie with Terre Haute Garfield. The Miners only gave up 24 points in their 10 games. I was a high school freshman and was in the band. The band traveled to all out of town games and performed on the home field in those days. We traveled with the team to South Bend to play SB Riley in the opening game the next year. Stayed overnight in SB. Great days to be a Miner. (And it still is) π Another thing special about that year was a victory over arch-rival Sullivan 22- 0, the first win over Sullivan in 13 years. It was the traditional season ending Armistice Day (now Veterans Day) game, played at Sullivan that year. Touched off one of the wildest celebrations in the annals of Linton football. Several Linton fans remained overnight in the Sullivan County jail. π Back to the 1945 Booneville game, an excerpt from the Linton 1946 yearbook states, "Our boys showed what they were made of in the next tilt by outscoring a fine Booneville team that lost only two games all season. This was perhaps the roughest game of the season, with Booneville outweighing our players at every position. Bud Peterson scored all three touchdowns in the 21 - 6 victory." (Peterson was a two - year, all - state halfback for Linton.)3 points

Not so fast Captainobvious! Eastbrook still has to get through Frankton and Elwood. Let's not go crowning them CIC champs just yet!!!!3 points

I've always admired the job Ryan Good does at Attica. 11 seasons without a losing record. At a school that small, you would expect a drop off at some point.2 points

Whoa. 1st football game? I knew the name from hoops. Amazing! TE #40 Munoz had a helluva game too with 2 TD including at least 3 fantastic catches. Props to GS for their big crowd. I heard the Southport concession stand volunteers say that the GS fans were the NICEST they've ever encountered. And she said they were making 100 burgers for the GS team to enjoy on their bus ride home. Pretty cool. Thanks Bob. After my initial post, I went back to read more of the thread & saw posts saying the kid was ejected. My bad -- I posted without knowing the whole story.2 points

About time we got this poll, even if two teams records were reported incorrectly! I think this year, GS may have been able to take on Memorial and get the W. Toss up i'd say, but I still like the Titans in that matchup.2 points

Brohm has stated multiple times he prefers to play a challenging out of conference schedule. Nevada was already on the schedule from years ago, though clearly, it was no cake walk. I do agree that it is possible they don't have the firepower to bounce back from a tough start, but I did think so the previous two years either. There is a lot of football left to be played. Brohm did scour the market for a grad transfer on the o-line has he has the last two years. He did not find one he deemed suitable, as he stated in the preseason. What that means, it is hard to be sure, but likely he was very considerate of team chemistry and didn't find the right fit. He has recruited JC o-line guys, but more often than not, that doesn't address the solution. The offensive line always takes the longest to develop and he has recruited it heavily, but his oldest recruits are redshirt sophomores. They will be fine in time.2 points

His post starts off with "I heard today" and your question is when did you hear this? Do you want to know the exact time of day or can he just round to the nearest hour.2 points

Yeah like Indiana Football Digest... "There are few communities that embrace their Friday night football better than the southwest Indiana towns of Linton and Stockton"1 point

Agreed.... itβs just crazy to see what Ralph has done and so quickly. I would have thought 1-2 good years, but to stay at this level with this enrollment is shocking and speaks volumes to those kids believing in him.1 point

Interesting to see Western Boone at 3 and Rensselaer at 4 with Webo's one loss coming to a team RC beat by two touchdowns. There are gonna be some good matchups in the North for 2A football come playoff time!1 point

Same here 1984 - just having some fun. I like posters who have a sense of humor without being a tool if you get what I mean. I am not taking anything for granted. Boonvillle IS a 4A program and has had some recent success. I know they have some good players at certain positions so it isn't going to be "cake" for the Miners. I think this is the first 4A school Linton has had on their schedule since Northview back in the 90's. Whether the Pioneers are up or down, it's a step up in class for the Miners and not another 70 - 0 blowout of some 1A team.1 point

We have no rules where time is run off the clock. If the runner was down inbounds, why did the game clock start on the snap? The only reason would be if someone called a timeout after the play. The clock would be stopped to administer the penalty, and then would start on the Refereeβs ready for play signal.1 point

For sake of argument, let's say Kansas' basketball program hired Chris Collins--the good folks in Lawrence would go insane...1 point

Spot on, but his tired rhetoric is not worth our time. BTW, Purdue just got its first 2021 commitment.1 point

My opinion but you should be tested for mental incompetence. No one with any kind of sanity would say PH is better then Linton. PH is varley better then Attica. One day you will understand you have no clue what your talking about!1 point

I seriously doubt Wright plays D all the time, I foresee something similar to what @Coach Nowlin described... He did sparingly against Western, he did the whole game against TW. He was locked up 1:1 with Hendershot which is TW's biggest weapon. I doubt he plays D this week, he probably won't have to against Frankfort or Southmont. He may against Danville & Lebanon. Who knows though.. I also wouldn't sleep on Garrity as a target. He doesn't have the speed that Benson did, but he is a big target.1 point

I don't disagree about your first sentence and last sentence. However, if he is sitting at a .500 or so record after 3 years here, I don't see the big boys coming yet. Can you imagine some of those fan bases if they hire a coach with an average record? They would lose their minds. For the record, I think Brohm is an excellent coach. He is a great fit for Purdue and can lead them to a great future, if he so chooses. I am also confident that he could go into any of those places listed and win quite a bit pretty quickly. I just don't see him being a prime candidate right now. Give him a few more years and yes, I agree. In reality, I'd rather there be schools who want Purdue's head football coach than the other way around. That means they are doing something well.1 point

Jasper will dominate upfront on both sides of the ball. Game over. Jasper by 3 score's or more.1 point

Not sure Seeger getting its second win from another very poor team is something to be too excited about, and I am not sure you can make the claim that PH is Better than Linton.1 point

That Kanye dude really knows how to party!!! We were having a blast until Kim started flirting with ole K9, and then Mr West said it was time to roll. KK has been snapping me all morning, but I ain't got time for all that. He did sign my MAGA hat before he left though. That was pretty cool of him.1 point

Updated WRC power rankings: 1. Parke Heritage Wolfs After Friday night there is no disputing who the best team in the WRC is. Had the Wolfs not played so sloppy, the score would've been much worse. Rest assured though that Brian Moore will get it cleaned up. My neighbor told me that the living legend was fired up with the way the Wolfs ran the ball! 2. Attica Red Ramblers Even though they didn't win, the River Ewes were a thorn in the side of the Wolfs all night. They proved all they needed to prove to move to second spot in the power rankings. 3. North Vermillion Falcons It was a tough loss for the Falcons but I heard it was actually a pretty good game. It was hard to pick between Attica and North Vermillion, so I gave the Falcons the third spot because Parke Heritage is better than Linton, and Attica played a pretty good game. 4. South Vermillion Wildcats Barrett's boys sit at 3-1 for the first time since 2017. Their improvement is undeniable. Thats-u one-u spicy meat-u-ball!! 5. Seeger Patriots HERB FREAKIN KING!!!!!!!! If Herb had been on Game of Thrones he would've won the whole dang thing!!! 6. Covington Trojans I've been saying all along that the Men of Troy were going to wreck some teams later in their schedule. The reckoning is coming! 7. Fountain Central Mustangs Dale Hummer, or Brian Moore or Rick Malone would struggle with this group. It's not the kids fault or the coaches. It just is what it is. Small schools go through cycles. The Mustangs will be back! 8. Riverton Parke Panthers I hope the shenanigans are done in Panther land. I would hate to have to keep them at the eighth spot all season long.1 point

The CIC title is definitely looking very good for Eastbrook at this point. Friday's matchup wasn't what most had thought it would be. Eastbrook put on a defensive clinic in my opinion. Here are some stats for the Mississinewa QB: 35 yards rushing 70 yards passing 2 TDs 1 Personal Foul 0 Headbutts (those in the community will get the joke)1 point

BD's strength of schedule. Southport will be severely tested this week against Chatard. If the Cardinals give the Trojans a game I might be swayed.1 point

I'm an official not on a crew and I'm not sure what you're implying here. I absolutely love football, and I get to help crews who need a replacement official that week or several weeks during the season. The assigner in my association has been warning us about this for years. There are 3 online scheduling websites being used as well as paper contracts, there's a good chance there was a double booking and miscommunication between school, assigner and officials.1 point

Stink you are one crazy dude. For years and years I have enjoyed your rhymes. Sometimes those rhymes were hard on my Knights but you are coming around. I'm working on my video skills, but here is how Coach Rand walked into the building today on the hill! He got that SWAG (South Dearborn WINS All Games)1 point

Yes, Panthers are in for a game with the Spartans. Hope they don't implode on penalties, as they have in past in some big games. I'm thinking Snider has more offensive weapons then Dwenger did, so they may be able to get a W here.1 point

Just FYI... only one E in Boonville Just like Linten-Stockten π1 point

I dont now anything about Booneville but they are a 4A team. I think Miners win lose or draw with this game. My question and that's NK are they real? Sure looks like it. And then they are Sectional 40 as well1 point

An offensive holding penalty is administered according to the βall but one rule,β which says that all penalties are enforced from the basic spot except one: a foul by the offense behind the basic spot. The penalty for that foul is enforced from the spot of the foul. The basic spot depends on the type of play. If the foul occurs during a running play, the basic spot is the end of the run. If the foul occurs during a loose ball play, the basic spot is the previous spot. It gets tricky, though, because you can have more than one type of play during a down. So, if the foul occurred either before or while the ball was loose during the backward pass, it occurred during a loose ball play and the basic spot is the previous spot, i.e., the 45, regardless of where on the field the foul occurred.1 point

Note to self: It is perfectly fine to humiliate your players as long as you win the next game. (Not true) Instead of telling players to wear their jerseys inside out, how about working on an offense and being able to execute in games! On top of that, try to get players committed and willing to work hard every play! I feel that this is a more logical approach to losing a game and preparing for the next!1 point
