If it gives kids and schools that can't play football an opportunity to do so, who cares how many points they score? I am all for it.

How are they supposed to stop anyone with only 8 guys on defense! We have trouble stopping people with 12 or 13 on Defense!

I look at it like people who hunt or golf or fish or fly airplanes. I have a side gig that I spend a lot of time doing, but at the end of the day best case i break even and it doesn't cost me money. That's hard to beat. And I get to meet some of the best people out there and be a part of the game we all love.

Can’t believe this is a topic! The climate is milder now than 40-50 years ago! State championship game 1975, Carmel @ Valpo. Temp was low teens and wind chill was -20. Mark Herrmann, who at that time held just about every state passing record, was essentially neutralized by the weather. Final score..... Valpo 14 Carmel 13.

Financial considerations are definitely a factor, especially since there was no revenue from the boy’s basketball tournament. But to say that’s the only reason they went forward with the season is a gross overstatement, and does a disservice to the people at the IHSAA, who are working hard to give the kids some aspect of normalcy in these goofy times.

What a game. Both teams battled until the end. ALL those kids deserved a huge game and atmosphere like this. One of those games that it’s too bad someone had to lose.

Terrible match-up for Whiteland. One dimensional with no vertical passing game is a recipe for disaster. Fly sweep offense plays right into Cathedral’s defensive scheme.

Long time listener first time caller here. I’m not seeing anything on this game. I know quite a bit about Castle, but literally nothing on Jeffersonville minus their record from Harrell. Any thoughts on this game? It’s being played at Castle.

If us Texas boys can have a playoff game with 35 degrees at kickoff, 20 mph wind and light but steady rain, and enjoy the heck out of it..... Another game, quarter-final I believe, was played a day after a bad ice storm. There was still a layer of ice on the bleachers because it didn't get warm enough during the day to melt it off the aluminum. Road conditions were not great, but manageable. They put sand on the parts of the bleachers you walk on and chipped as much ice as they could off of the parts where you sit. Kickoff temp was 29 with 20-30 mph wind. Both teams, 2A schools, filled the 4A neutral site bleachers about 3/4 full - both home & visitor sides. Probably 1/3 of the kids on each team played with bare arms (mostly linemen). It was one of the best, competitive playoff games I've been to. Both crowds were super into it and the concession stand probably made a fortune off hot chocolate sales. Those weren't the only games (mostly playoffs) played in cold, nasty conditions. If we can handle the above, I'd expect more from my home state.

Coldest for me was Nov. 10, 2006. Regional at New Prairie, hosting Norwell. Temps in the low 50s when we got there. We finished our pregame and got dressed. When we walked out of the school, the temperature had dropped 20 degrees and it started raining. We went back in, changed to our cold/wet weather gear and went back out. The rain was coming down sideways from the start and the temperature kept dropping. The field was a quagmire. By the time we got out there for the 2nd half, the mud ruts in the field had started to freeze. There’s cold, and then there’s wet cold. Norwell had a QB named Chandler Harnish who went on to great things at Northern Illinois. On that field, he just couldn’t be stopped. After the game, I took my white knickers and striped socks and just threw them in the trash.

I agree. I truly believe that if we had our normal 3500+ fans in the Enlow grandstand last week that we would be the team playing Mooresville this week instead of Central. But c'est la vie. Aside from that, not having the weekly tailgates and seeing friends and family at games has been a true bummer this season. Good luck to you guys tomorrow.

Myers is very good. Their offense is very simple and geared toward being effective even with small linemen. They run it very well. It's a very unique offense based on a lot of misdirection - there's a jet sweep action on almost every play and then a power going to the opposite side ... and play action off that if you sell out to stop the run. They have 11 TDs on 23 completed passes this year.

Amen. Yes, that was a cold night. Fortunately, I was asked to heat footballs with a torpedo heater on the sideline so I was toasty warm. The coldest I have ever been was the Danville Semi-State game in 2017 when it was an otherwise tolerable temp of low 30s but the sideways rain and sleet made it brutal.

I loved it while in school at Nebraska. I am not sure every game was that high of a score, from what I remember both teams were usually around 40+. From a fans standpoint it is a lot of action and exciting to watch. It is a completely different game, and I think is a very viable option to keep supporting football at every level in Indiana.

I would like to point out that some of our smaller schools do have trouble getting the numbers for traditional football. Why is this so bad? It gives these smaller schools a chance to compete for something if this is also given a state tournament and doesn't allow @DTto use that dirty C word.... Contraction.

Indiana thinks they have small schools. There aren't any really small schools. Some of those upper midwest states have enrollments of less than 50 for all 4 grades.

SA 49 Southwood 21. No knock on Southwood, they are a really good team. This SA team is just that good in comparison of watching them play this year and seeing Southwood last week.

Looking at the video again, I probably would not have called this. The snapper’s block is a near pancake. The QB would have gotten in the end zone if he just tripped over his own feet. But I’m definitely going to talk to the pusher, and get a message to the coach, since this does look like the play was designed with the push in mind.

In a perfect world (meaning no-SCF) we could have had Mater Dei vs Southridge for the 40 title and Memorial vs Gibson Southern last week for the right to face Lawrenceburg this weekend. That's not the case. Good luck to MD and SR in their actual games.

You only need 2 sectionals or 1 regional to stay up a class once you are bumped up. I am not a fan of the success factor as a whole, but to me if you get bumped up a class and can win 2 sectionals or a regional you probably deserve to stay there.
