HNAC to have 6 teams playing for sectional titles next week. Gotta admit that’s turned into a nice little football conference.2 points

thanks Irish. I would hope the ISHAA would look at that. There is a reason for classes based on enrollment.....My guess is that the state has many schools that don't reach 75 roster max and many schools that have to make tough decisions to reduce their rosters. I am not advocating for 6 roster sizes...but I bet they could come up with 2 or 3 limits that make a little more sense.2 points

Is the roster limit the same for 1A through 6A? If so, that doesn't feel right......2 points

Do school records count when wearing someone else's pants during the accomplishment, or does one have to share the yardage between the two players? 🤔 Bonus inquiry: How do quarters get factored into pants sharing scenarios? Do the pants only get two JV quarters the next week, or can they go the full four quarters? I'd think if they were washed you could get the full four, but I couldn't find anything in the rules manual. I'll hang up and listen for your answer...2 points

Sorry I'm new to GD so please forgive me that this is off topic but it looks like @Irishman is the GD police and decides what is valid and not valid to post. I would like like to post about the topic of national exposure but I know it's off topic for this thread so I thought about creating a new thread but I saw the post that said the game between center grove and cathedral is off limits so I am a little confuse on what I can post and not get in trouble/put in time.2 points

A game played by children that can open doors for many of them. A game played by children that takes the time to crown a champion. A game played by children that takes the time to compile national rankings. A game played by children in which networks show high profile contests on national television. A game played by children that has a dedicated forum like this one that you spends hours on each day. You like to “poo poo” the significance and interest in the sport all the while allowing it to consume a large chunk of your time. Interesting.2 points

I laid off commenting on anything Temptation troll has said because 99% of me thinks he is trying get another topic locked talking about the CG-Cathedral game. I'll indulge since it's Friday. There are so many reasons that we played CG at Arlington. None of it had to do with team speed. I believe CHS is a faster team than CG is. We had multiple IHSAA track finalists as well, etc. Arlington is and has been our de facto home field since the late 1980s. It has many home field advantages the last of which was the grass playing field. Grass has just lately been an advantage during the recent shift to turf fields in the last 5 - 7 years. So, for 30 years of playing CHS football there, it was just another field surface. Arlington's home field advantage is much more: 1. Proximity (1 mile from CHS campus). Our Friday routine of mass, walk through, meal can start later with the end of school. 2. Crowned field - the slight crown on the field (for drainage, by the way) poses some different passing challenges. 3. Visitor locker room and press box - Visitor locker is in the school and a short walk to the field. Likewise, the press box is extremely tight. 4. History - many, many Sectional, Regional, and Semi-state games have been won on that field. Sometimes in the freezing slop of a rain game. One of the best games of all time there was one of our best teams ever in 1999 losing to Arlington (who was the visiting team - yes you heard that right) with Mr. Football Derrick Ellis in a complete monsoon. These Irish players study and know our Irish Football history. At the end of the day, we'll decide what field suits us better to win the game. We prefer Arlington, but if a turf field might be a sizable advantage, we'll move it. I can't see us doing this for a regular season game. We have a contract with Arlington for the regular season. We also don't get all the gate for the IHSAA playoffs.2 points

Just a game. Played by children. People need to remember that and put it in the correct perspective.2 points

Coach Raetz has done a terrific job at Northview after leaving TH South. Northview has been solid for 7 or 8 years. They haven't got over that Sectional hump yet, but they have been solid. Was really impressed with their win over Jasper. If they beat Ev Reitz and Memorial beats Central could make for a very good Sectional Championship game in Brazil.2 points

Absolutely definitely will be coming over to see it and anything can happen! Good luck to you guys the rest of the way!1 point

35-0 after 1. Definitely could have been really ugly. Freshman played whole second half so got the starters well rested. As far as if Tipton is as good as last year, I am not sure. I do think the defense is better this year. Eastbrook was probably the best team Tipton played last year too up to that point. I’m expecting another great game. Hoping it stays dry!1 point

The crew working South Adams vs Monroe Central has to be removed from officiating the rest of the tournament. Monroe Central got 4 TOs in 2nd half. SA should have been able to kneel it out instead of giving another chance to MC. Luckily it ended up a non factor but it could have been. That can't happen in the tournament. I know there is a shortage, but that is unacceptable.1 point

Just don’t let Brady Allen get injured! I’d love to see him start for the Boilers next year.1 point

I don't think there is anything wrong with how Snider is playing outside of that last fumble. Northrop's coaches are just putting on a clinic.1 point

Bloomington South 10 Castle 7 (half) South had a drive near the end of the half die in the red zone and a FG attempt hit the upright and was no good. Castle gets the ball to start the 2nd half.1 point

I have heard this same refrain from officials for at least the last 20 years, but there is absolutely no doubt that the grief officials take is contributing significantly to the shortage - and it’s getting worse. You might think that young people today are “soft,” or that officials shouldn’t have ”rabbit ears.” Be that as it may, the fact is that something has to be done or we are going to reach “critical mass” in a few short years, and you are going to see schools paying a lot more $$ for officials, just to entice people to become officials, and/or you are going to be seeing Thursday and Saturday games in abundance. You only have to look at some of the comments you see here on the GID and know that is multiplied tenfold on Friday nights, from the stands, from the sidelines, and from social media. People, criticism is expected. But the vitriol you hear is worse than ever.1 point

I know this only effects a small about of teams but I have always hated this rule but it still has to be followed. Some times you have seniors that do not get to dress on what could be thier last game.1 point

Maybe it would really help get this “Quarter Limit” situation under control.. it’s really running out of control at this point 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂1 point

Just play the game where it is originally scheduled to be played. Chasing favorable conditions is taking away from the heart of football. It’s ok to play in the mud!!1 point

If it's as rainy as expected, the edge 100% goes to EC. They can ground & pound, and do a really good job of being physical against the run, defensively. I think one team that has been under the radar in 4A is Mt. Vernon. They gave up 57 to a unique offense in Noblesville but they've been dominant in the HHC this year. (I know they're ranked 4th in the polls but almost no one is giving them a chance to beat the Royals.) Roncalli struggles mightily against good passing offenses and Mt. Vernon's big-time pass game could give Roncalli fits.1 point

Says who? They could definitely host both of those for FOOTBALL. I think for Fort Wayne specifically, they do not get to host too many basketball regionals or semi-state games because none of their basketball gyms are large enough. I think Northrop's gym is the largest capacity at 3,500, with Northside and Wayne and right behind at 3,300 and 3,200 respectively. New Haven's gym is 3,300 as well. Compared to the 16 Regional sites last year, only Northrop would be larger than 2 of the locations (Triton 3,470 and Lapel 3,051) while the other 3 I mentioned would only be bigger than Lapel. All the schools' gyms are less than half the size of the smallest Semi-State site last year (Washington at 7,090). But with Football, there are plenty of nice stadiums in Fort Wayne, with turf, that could host neutral site Regional and/or Semi-State games.1 point

From what I have seen in the past the host school will agree to a set fee for use of the facilities. It could be paid by the host school or come out of the money generated and shared by the sectional. From my experiences the school that is hosting the event will get all concessions and the rental fee. The workers are all provided by the school requesting the rental.1 point

I think BHSN would host, since they are the bottom part of bracket. It usually like that if both teams have played the same number of away games. So I’m guessing it’s the same for the same number of home games1 point

Quite possibly the coolest success story in the entire state that no one seems to be talking about. The Patriots have been a bottom feeder for the last few years (12-39 over the past 5 prior to 2021 if my math is correct). Cool story and have gained a fan in this guy.1 point

These are my picks as well. Though if Floyd is going to win, I hope they don't have the same officiating crew they had in the last NA game...1 point
